All of the dredge functions are controlled with the joystick and the toggle switches by the PLC. The joystick is mounted in the right-hand operator’s chair arm. It operates the ladder movement and conventional swinging, and has the engine speed control onthe top of it. The carriage spud, the carriage, and the two front spuds are controlled with the toggle switches in the left-hand of the operator’s chair. The touch screen displays the hydraulic pressure for the ladder functions, the spud functions, and cutter functions along with the carriage position, ladder depth, engine speed, discharge flow, production and the status of the “MAXIMIZER” valve on the main screen.
