Custom Dredge Works Announces the Delivery and Launch of a New 12-inch Electric Cutter Suction Dredge for U.S. Silica

Mauricetown, NJ, July 31, 2019: Custom Dredge Works, Inc. (CDW) and U.S. Silica are excited to announce the recent successful launch of a new 12” Electric Powered Cutter Suction Dredge with a 115’ Ladder in Mauricetown, NJ.
U.S. Silica is a leading silica sand supplier with a focus on proppants and performance materials that are essential to modern living. U.S. Silica operates mines in Mauricetown and in nearby Port Elizabeth. The 99% pure silica, in combination with U.S. Silica’s processing equipment, make the products produced in Mauricetown perfect for foundry, industrial, recreational and filtration grade sands and gravels. The Mauricetown facility is also dedicated to minimizing the impact it has on the environment and wildlife surrounding their properties.
Since U.S. Silica is very committed to being a good neighbor to the surrounding community, U.S. Silica chose to acquire an electric powered dredge over one with a diesel engine. An electric motor does not produce air, water or noise pollution. Electric motors also tend to outlive diesel engines and be much less expensive and complicated to maintain.
US Slilica’s Plant Manager for the Mauricetown mine, Justo Lucena, stated “This new dredge really gets after it and does an excellent job of producing silica sand at production levels equal too or in excess of our expectations. We are extremely pleased with our new Custom Dredge Works Electric Dredge.”
